Atomweight submission grappling superstar Danielle Kelly put on a show at ONE on Prime Video 4, submitting Russian sambo world champion Mariia Molchanova with a rear-naked choke just over two minutes into their 10-minute contest.

The American’s performance netted Kelly a US $50,000 bonus, her second in a row after she secured a unanimous decision victory against Mei Yamaguchi earlier this year.

Immediately after the fight, ONE Championship caught Kelly in the hallway back to the locker room and gave her some screen time. Kelly didn't waste the opportunity and proceeded to call out ONE women’s atomweight world champion ‘Unstoppable’ Angela Lee to a submission grappling bout.

Kelly said:

“Angela called me out, said she could submit me, so come prove it. I’m ready.”

Kelly and Lee have been on a collision course since the 26-year-old joined ONE Championship earlier this year.

Lee mentioned in a previous interview that she believed she could beat Kelly in a submission grappling contest and possibly even submit her, which Kelly took offense to. That’s when their beef started, which has only intensified in the months that followed.

By the time the two meet in the circle, it should make for an exciting fight. Whether or not it takes place in submission grappling, or in mixed martial arts, remains to be seen. Kelly has expressed interest in transitioning to MMA in the near future, where Lee reigns as the ONE women’s atomweight world champion.

Danielle Kelly will transition to mixed martial arts when she’s ready

Danielle Kelly has been tearing it up in the submission grappling scene, where she feels a move to mixed martial arts will be inevitable.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Danielle Kelly said that she still has a lot to develop in the other facets of the sport.

“You get really used to getting punched in the face, but I don't know, I feel like if I do it more, I'd be more comfortable. So I think I'd be confident and my jiu-jitsu would be better than my opponent, whoever I'm going against, so I can always fall back on that.”

She added that she’s still focused on her craft since she wants to add the ONE submission grappling world title to her trophy cabinet:

“For grappling right now, I'm open to any opponent that wants to compete against me for grappling or calling me out. I'm focusing on jiu-jitsu, I want to win the title for ONE, and I'll go from there, and decide if I want to start MMA.”
