Sinsamut Klinmee doesn't need outside critics to point out the flaws in his game, he already does that to himself. The Thai star is his hardest critic, and one aspect he saw that he could massively improve on is his fortitude during matches.
Sinsamut recalled how he let go of his match against Dmitry Menshikov when they squared off at ONE Fight Night 22 this past May.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Sinsamut Klinmee said he had to improve his defense after absorbing far too many shots that led to his knockout loss in the third round.
The former ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title contender said:
"So I got hit multiple times until I lost. After this, I need to improve my defense, try to endure when I get hit, and try not to show any sign of pain in front of my opponent."
'Aquaman' was in firm control of the first two rounds against Menshikov, tagging the Russian knockout machine with sniping shots from a distance. Menshikov, however, got into his proverbial second wind and closed the void to batter Sinsamut from within close.
Following a barrage of unanswered shots, Sinsamut slowly folded in a heap on the canvas.
Sinsamut now looks to erase that bitter memory when he takes on ISKA and WMC world champion Youssef Assouik at ONE Fight Night 25 this Friday, US primetime, at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
ONE Fight Night 25 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Sinsamut Klinmee eyes rematch against Dmitry Menshikov
Sinsamut Klinmee may be focused on his looming fight against Assouik, but the bitter loss to Menshikov remains festering in the back halls of his memory.
In the same interview with ONE Championship, Sinsamut said he wants to secure a rematch against Menshikov in his bid to return to the world title picture.
He said:
"I want to have a rematch with Menshikov. This time, I’m certain that I can beat him. Because in that fight, I almost got him but the tide turned."
