Jonathan Haggerty loves the versatility of ONE Championship.

ONE Championship has built its brand around supporting all combat sports. MMA fans enjoy various martial arts in a single event, and fighters have more opportunities to make life-changing money. During an interview with The MMA Super-Fan, Haggerty opened up about his appreciation for ONE by saying:

“I follow all the sports. I’m an MMA fan as well. I love that ONE Championship is a great platform that allows you to fight MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing, and I think that’s brilliant. I follow it all.”

ONE Championship’s newest expansion revolves around submission grappling. Young superstars like Mikey Musumeci, the Ruotolo brothers, and Danielle Kelly are getting the opportunity to help jiu-jitsu and grappling overall grow. ONE uses a similar method for several other martial arts.

Tuning into ONE events and seeing several combat sports on a fight card is an experience other top MMA promotions don’t offer. Also, seeing fantasy matchups like Demetrious Johnson vs. Rodtang is a dream for diehard combat sports.

Jonathan Haggerty on transition to MMA

Jonathan Haggerty looks to be the next exciting fighter to test his skills under different rules. ‘The General’ has shown interest in transitioning from Muay Thai to MMA. During the same interview, Haggerty had this to say about training MMA:

"With the MMA sparring, I wouldn’t obviously do it while I’m in fight camp. I just do it when I’m out of fight camp just to keep active. Who knows, I could be going into MMA real soon. So just to get the rounds in, getting used to it, it's no harm. But like I said, I won’t be doing that in fight camp."

Haggerty has some work to do before transitioning to MMA. ‘The General’ won his last two fights in the flyweight Muay Thai division, but he’s moving to bantamweight after pulling out of two fights in 2022 with undisclosed illnesses.

Haggerty will make his bantamweight debut against Vladimir Kuzmin at ONE on Prime Video 4. Depending on the result, ‘The General’ could go for bantamweight gold, transition to MMA, or exploit options for a crossover fight with mixed rules.
