Leon Edwards recently outlined his plans to become the UFC welterweight champion once again and sent many fans into a frenzy. Edwards claimed he's taking the necessary steps to win the title back and plans to make it happen toward the end of next year.

Edwards lost the 170-pound championship to Belal Muhammad at UFC 304 in July. The Englishman was thoroughly outclassed by Muhammad and struggled against his grappling prowess. Four months after his loss, 'Rocky' took to social media to announce his title plans.

In an interview clip shared on the MyProtein Instagram page, reshared by @MMAFighting on X, Edwards outlined his plans for 2025 and said:

"My goal right now is to get the belt back. I’d like to be champion by the end of next year — around this time next year, so I’m just putting steps in place."

Soon after, @MMAFighting shared Edwards' quotes in an X post and fans flocked to the comments section to express their thoughts.

One fan slammed Edwards for being "delusional" and wrote:

"This fellow remains delusional. After woefully losing to Belal, he went into hiding. How will he earn a title fight by being idle?"

Another user wrote:

"It doesn't hurt to dream."

Jorge Masvidal eyes Leon Edwards or Conor McGregor for UFC return

Jorge Masvidal recently named Leon Edwards or Conor McGregor as potential opponents for his UFC return. The former BMF champion seemingly aims to return at UFC Miami in April next year after announcing his retirement at UFC 287 after losing to Gilbert Burns.

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Masvidal named Edwards and McGregor as potential opponents for his long-awaited return and said:

"I’d like for it to be Conor (McGregor) because I heard he also wants to fight on that same date... He’s never mentioned my name because he knows I’ll rip his head off... They’re saying he might want to do it, but I’m chilling. If he wants to do it, great, I’ll kill him. If not, Leon Edwards. He and I have history, and it’s time to settle it. He’s not booked, and neither am I. Let’s go, sign the contract, and I’ll break your face.” [H/t: MMA Junkie]
