Fabricio Andrade is ready to write his name in the history books when he faces fellow world champion Jonathan Haggerty in Bangkok.

The reigning ONE bantamweight MMA world champion will face Haggerty, the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion, in a historic super fight in the main event of ONE Fight Night 16 on November 3.

Andrade and Haggerty will contend for the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

In an interview with FightWave, Andrade detailed the magnitude of his impending fight against the British superstar.

‘Wonderboy’ said the fight itself is already a showcase for the fans who will flock to the historic stadium. But what interests Andrade is his shot at ONE Championship history.

No MMA fighter has held two world titles simultaneously in the promotion, and Andrade can become the first one to do so if he beats Haggerty.

Andrade said:

“And I’m really excited to see what this fight is gonna be. And I think for the fans as well, it’s gonna be exciting to see something like that happen. It never happened before, ONE Muay Thai champion against ONE MMA champion. For me to a become two-sport world champion is very very special and it’s something no male [MMA] athlete has done.”

Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao was the first fighter to hold two world titles across two sports when he had the ONE strawweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world titles from February 2020 to July 2021.

Current ONE lightweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world Regian Eersel was the second to achieve such a feat.

ONE women's atomweight MMA world champion Stamp Fairtex is the first MMA fighter in ONE Championship to win three world titles in the promotion's history. The Thai megastar was once the ONE atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion from February 2019 to February 2020 before she focused solely on MMA.

Andrade, though, has the potential to be enshrined in a club of his own. If he beats Haggerty in their highly anticipated meeting, then he’ll be the first fighter to simultaneously hold both MMA and kickboxing world titles.

ONE Fight Night 16 is available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
