Jake Paul joined a long list of athletes and celebrities to express their grief at the passing away of rapper Takeoff. The 28-year-old American was a victim of gun violence.

Paul, who is coming off the biggest win of his boxing career against former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, tweeted:

“Senseless killings need to stop. Need to unify. RIP TAKEOFF.”

Paul followed up with another tweet denouncing gun violence. Paul, accustomed to settling his disputes in the boxing ring, stated:

“To all the youth…put down the guns and pick up some boxing gloves to settle your differences. Violence is not the answer.”

According to a report by TMZ, Takeoff was at a Houston bowling alley called 810 Billiards & Bowling at the time of his death. Apparently, he was involved in an argument over a dice game which escalated quickly and gunshots were fired. The rapper was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Former Super Bowl champion Darrelle Revis gave his thoughts on the news of Takeoff’s passing:

“Our legends are being taken away too soon. A big supporter of Migos. It’s just not good to wake up to news like this. @1YoungTakeoff @QuavoStuntin”

Aside from his music, the rapper was a fan of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks as well as a longtime WWE fan. The trio he was a part of, Migos, appeared at WWE’s premium live event: Day 1 earlier this year.

The Atlanta Hawks released a statement on their Twitter account that read:

“We are heartbroken over the passing of Takeoff, a passionate Hawks fan and pillar of Atlanta culture. Sending our love to his family, friends, and all who are mourning his loss today.”

Atlanta Hawks point-guard Trae Young was shocked by the news:

“No F****ing Way…”
