Jake Paul recently did a heartfelt interview discussing his love for boxing and the struggles he has overcome.

When ‘The Problem Child’ first started boxing, most people thought he was using the sport to continue growing his social media platform. Several years later, the former YouTuber has committed his life to boxing as a fighter and promoter. During a recent interview with BusinessLend, Paul had this to say about boxing changing his life:

“I need boxing. Boxing saved me. I was in a super dark place in my life. I lacked discipline, lacked routine, lacked community, lacked passion, lacked progress. Boxing gave me all of those things, and I loved punching people and getting punched! I love the pace of it, the strategy, everything behind it. It’s an art. Then there’s the build-up, the content, the press conferences, the outfits. All of it made me fall in love with boxing, to a point where I need boxing on a daily basis just to function. I love the sport, that’s really what it is.”

Although Jake Paul had money and fame before fighting, thousands of boxers worldwide can relate to his comments about needing the sport to function. ‘The Problem Child’ gains haters and doubters every day, but the 26-year-old continues to train hard and improve, leading to a 6-0 professional boxing record against mostly MMA fighters.

Jake Paul opens up about dealing with insecurities and public criticism

Jake Paul has been criticized for nearly everything he does. While some people might think that’s ok because he’s a celebrity, the 25-year-old is still a person with feelings. Similar things can be said about his older brother Logan Paul, who has had his fair share of controversies over the years.

During the same interview with BusinessLend, ‘The Problem Child’ had this to say about false impressions the public had attached to his name:

“I think people… they don’t think I’m a real person. And I think they judge me from my past a lot, versus looking at who I am today. I think, as humans, we naturally do that, so I get it. But yeah, I think that’s it… And they compare me to my brother. Whenever he does something wrong, I get in trouble for it. I would probably say that’s the biggest thing.”

Later in the interview, Jake Paul discussed dealing with insecurities, specifically those exploited by the public. He was candid about the topic by saying:

“When they say anything about me, I’ve dealt with all my insecurities as a man. I’ve looked myself in the mirror and gone through so many spiritual, healing journeys. You don’t just all of a sudden not have insecurities, but I’ve dealt with mine. So, if someone brings them up, it’s like… I don’t care, because I love myself.”

On February 26, ‘The Problem Child’ continues his boxing journey by fighting Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia. Although there has been criticism about Fury’s boxing skills, the Love Island superstar has trained all of his life, working side-by-side with heavyweight legend Tyson Fury. Both fighters believe they will expose the other, but only one can be right.
