Just a few months ago, 'JT' Janet Todd was gearing up for a Muay Thai world title unification battle against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the US-born Todd was forced to pull out of their scheduled matchup.

It was a heart-wrenching moment for Janet Todd. In an interview with ONE Championship, she explained:

"I remember bawling my eyes out. And I was just in shock. I didn’t believe it. Because the last time I had COVID, I had the body pains, fever, and I didn’t have any of that. It was just like a stuffy nose, which I thought were allergies because we were staying at a casino where there’s cigarette smoke that I’m not used to. I couldn’t believe it."

The American striker is the current ONE atomweight kickboxing world champion and also the ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai world champion. She will be facing Brazil's Allycia Hellen Rodrigues for the undisputed atomweight Muay Thai world crown. The two are booked for a showdown on March 24 at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.

All the action on the card will be broadcast live and for free on Prime Video for all Amazon subscribers across North America.

Janet Todd just wants to fight

While 'JT' was suffering from COVID-19, her biggest issue was not recovering, but instead wondering when she could get back into the ONE circle. She just wanted to fight. While her prior matchup was canceled, the rebooked fight is coming soon.

While speaking to ONE Championship, Janet Todd said:

"But you know, I can’t sit there and just feel sorry for myself. What’s done is done. I can’t go back in time. I don’t even know how I got COVID. Maybe it was in the airplane. Who knows? But there’s nothing I can do at that point."

After the disappointing news, all that was left was to get back in the gym and get ready for her next match. 'JT' continued:

"So all I had to do was look forward. And just keep training once things get better. Knowing that this fight was going to happen sometime. And now it’s here."
