Jarred Brooks thinks his physical attributes make him a more dangerous opponent for Adriano Moraes than Demetrious Johnson.

‘Mighty Mouse’ regained the ONE flyweight world title in a rematch against Moraes in August. Meanwhile, Brooks is preparing for a strawweight title fight against Joshua Pacio.

Before joining ONE Championship, ‘The Monkey God’ fought at flyweight in several promotions that didn’t have a strawweight weight class. Hence, there is a possibility of a transition to the ONE flyweight division.

During an interview with MMA Sucka, the number one-ranked strawweight had this to say when discussing Johnson and ‘Mikinho’:

“Demetrious Johnson is 5’3 and he beat Adriano Moraes, and I think I’m stronger, and I’m faster than Demetrious Johnson right now, right? I know for a fact.”

Brooks signed with ONE in 2021 with a record of 16-2. ‘The Monkey God’ put the strawweight division on notice by winning his first three fights, with two inside the distance. The 29-year-old now has a shot at taking out Team Lakay’s Pacio at ONE 164 and becoming the strawweight king.

Jarred Brooks prefers ONE Championship over other major MMA organizations

Jarred Brooks bounced around a handful of top-tier MMA promotions before joining ONE. Throughout his career, Brooks has always had the potential to be a world champion but couldn’t seem to find the right promotion to stay with. During an interview with Unwrapped Sports, ‘The Monkey God’ had this to say about finding a home with ONE Championship:

“I’ll say first the one that I like better is ONE Championship because they treat us very well over there. It’s like a family when you’re being introduced to the production crew. They’re taking you everywhere, making sure you’re having fun in the process of doing all these interviews, all this structured stuff before the fight.”

‘The Monkey God’ has one more mountain to climb before becoming a world champion. Strawweight champion Joshua Pacio trains out of Team Lakay with Lito Adiwang, a former opponent of Brooks. Adiwang has been helping his teammate prepare for the upcoming title defense at ONE 164. Only time will tell if the 29-year-old can make his childhood dream of being a world champion come true.
