Patricio Pitbull fell short in his long-awaited UFC debut and a former opponent of his seems to see an arduous road ahead for him in that promotion. Appearing on MMA Canada, Jeremy Kennedy covered several subjects ahead of his rematch with Adam Borics which is set for June 12 inside the PFL smart cage.
In the context of Aaron Pico being someone Kennedy has beaten inside the Bellator MMA cage, the Canadian combatant spoke highly of Pico's skillset and youth advantage. Kennedy also mentioned that Pitbull didn't necessarily bring the latter attribute to the cage when he made his anticipated UFC debut.
When expounding upon his thoughts on former opponent Patricio Pitbull losing to Yair Rodriguez at UFC 314, Kennedy said:
"Again, Pitbull coming in, he's a little older now and near the end of his career. It would have been cooler a couple of years ago... Yeah, I mean, even when I fought him look, I think I got the last best version of him [laughs]. That was almost two years ago, a year and a half ago."

"So now I think he's got to be close to 37, been fighting for a couple of decades, you know. A lot of miles on his body. So I just think it's a tough time to be getting into the top," he added.

Patricio Pitbull and the night he fought Jeremy Kennedy
Patricio Pitbull fought Jeremy Kennedy on the heels of a two-fight losing skid after failing to become a three-division Bellator champion.
The 37-year-old would end up finishing Jeremy Kennedy with strikes in the final minute of the third round of their clash for Pitbull's featherweight gold in March 2024.
The native of Brazil looks to rebound from his promotional debut loss to Yair Rodriguez in April when he returns to the octagon in July. Pitbull is rumored to battle against Dan Ige at UFC 318.
If confirmed by the promotion, the former two-division Bellator champion would be looking to break into the rankings with a win over the No.14-ranked featherweight contender.
