With four straight wins inside the circle, Miado could be looking at an opportunity to take on ONE Championship’s new strawweight king Jarred Brooks in 2023. ‘The Monkey God’ captured the title in a 25-minute war with Joshua Pacio in ONE’s final event of the year.

Despite his wrestling acumen, Brooks struggled to put Pacio on the mat and keep him there, forcing him to win the contest with his hands.

Brooks impressively did just that, earning a unanimous decision victory over Team Lakay’s last-standing world champion. In an interview with International Business Times, Miado revealed that he found Brooks’ struggle to control Joshua Pacio gave him a boost of confidence should the day come when the two warriors square off inside the circle:

“I was happy when I saw that he had a hard time keeping Pacio down, and I'm confident because he might be able to take me down, but I'm sure he won't be able to control me because that's all I've been perfecting since day one here, that even if I get taken down, I can get back up.”

Jeremy Miado is focusing on wrestling in anticipation of a showdown with ‘The Monkey God’

Believing a meeting with ‘The Monkey God’ is inevitable, Jeremy Miado has been putting in work at the gym to improve his ground game. Discussing his focus on wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Miado said:

"They've also underestimated my wrestling and my Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but my training partners here are American wrestlers, these are very good wrestlers, so I think I can also give him problems defending his takedowns."

Though Jarred Brooks seems to have a super fight with pound-for-pound great Demetrious Johnson on his to-do list, ‘The Monkey God’ recognizes the skills and improvements that Miado has made over the last few years. In an interview with ONE Championship, Brooks complimented the Marrok Force product, saying:

“You have Jeremy Miado. He’s really good. He’s tall, has great boxing, got his wrestling a little bit better too, and his jiu-jitsu is not bad. So I think Jeremy Miado would be a good matchup.”
