Joe Rogan explains how alcohol reduces a fighter's life inside the octagon

Joe Rogan states that alcohol will damage a fighter
UFC commentator and comedian Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan recently sat down with UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammad on the Joe Rogan Experience. The podcast host commended Muhammad for his choice to abstain from alcohol, as the pair discussed the various negative effects stemming from the substance.

Rogan admitted that whilst alcohol can be fun at times, there are no positives to alcohol in the long term. He noted that if athletes are not optimizing recovery and health, particularly in elite-level combat sports, the consequences will be terrible.

Rogan said this:

"By not drinking, you're probably adding time to your career. Drinking's fun, there's a reason why people like to do it, there's a reason why bars are everywhere. But, the reality is it's f***ing terrible for you. And if you're a professional athlete, and you're in this world of professional athleticism - in the hardest sport in the world - if you can maximize your recovery and vitality by not drinking alcohol, I would tell people to do it."

Joe Rogan praises Ciryl Gane's striking prowess ahead of Jon Jones fight

Ciryl Gane will take on Jon Jones for the heavyweight title at UFC 285 in March following Francis Ngannou's departure from the promotion.

On the episode of the Joe Rogan Experience with Belal Muhammad, Rogan broke down the upcoming heavyweight matchup and heaped praise onto the Frenchman's striking skills.

The podcast host pointed to Gane's bout against Tai Tuivasa at UFC Fight Night 209 as the best illustration of his talents, and said this:

"That was a perfect fight to showcase what Gane is about. His movement, the fluidity of his combinations, the guy moves like a middleweight... He's the most agile and probably the most technical of all heavyweight strikers. Ciryl is very well rounded when it comes to his striking."
