Diaz is one of the most well-known figures in mixed martial arts. He has a loyal following thanks to his resilient fighting style, outspoken personality and remarkable performances.

On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan and his guests, stand-up comedians Shane Gillis, Mark Normand, and Ari Shaffir, professed their appreciation for Diaz. The UFC commentator stated:

''He's [Diaz] such a superstar, everybody loves him cuz he's the same guy...absolutely, genuinely doesn't give a f*ck...that guy is a superstar, that guy shows up...I have always said that he was the most underappreciated superstar during the Conor McGregor times. I was like you guys are missing out, like you got Conor McGregor but Nate Diaz just beat him and said 'I'm not surprised motherfu*ker.'''

Despite not winning UFC gold, Diaz left a strong mark during his time in the promotion. The entire MMA fandom was stunned when he submitted McGregor with a tight rear-naked choke in the second round at UFC 196 in 2016. The 40-year-old immediately returned to face 'The Notorious' in rematch at UFC 202 but suffered a majority decision loss. Notably, the Irish superstar has described Diaz as his most tough opponent, while expressing a desire for a trilogy fight.

After defeating Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 in 2022, Diaz left the company to pursue a career in boxing, taking on Jake Paul and longtime rival Jorge Masvidal.

When Nick Diaz's relentless cardio amazed Joe Rogan

Despite the problems in his personal life, Nate Diaz's older brother Nick Diaz remains one of the remarkable fighters to grace the octagon. Notably, his initial encounter with Robbie Lawler in April 2004 earned praise from many including Rogan.

In a past conversation with Josh Thomson in his JRE podcast, Rogan lauded Nick's constant pressure on his opponents, saying:

''Nick Diaz changed the game, in terms of his elite cardio. He’s going to stay on top of you, and he’s going to talk to you the whole time. So, he’s going to f*** with you psychologically, he’s going to disrupt your breathing by constantly hitting you. Once he realizes you’re hurt, then he’s digging to the body, then he’s putting it on you...When Nick was at the top in Strikeforce, to this day, I think he was one of the best fighters that has ever done it.”
