John Lineker struggled to read Fabricio Andrade in their first showdown for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title but has now said he has a firmer grasp of the style of his opponent and is ready for their rematch later this month.

‘Hands of Stone’ jousts with ‘Wonder Boy’ anew at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video on February 24 in Bangkok to be king of the promotion’s 145-pound weight division.

Their first collision last October was cut abruptly and ruled a no-contest when Lineker was unable to continue beyond the third round after being struck with an accidental knee in the groin. Before the match came to a sorry end, the American Top Team fighter got a beating, which he owed, by and large, to poor recognition of the abilities and game plan of Andrade.

In the lead-up to their rematch, John Lineker is making sure that he applies the lessons he learned so as to be better prepared for what he expects to be another barnburner.

He told ONE Championship in an interview:

“I noticed some gaps in [Andrade’s] game. I also noticed his strengths, so in some way, it will help and I certainly won’t take as many hits as I did in the last fight. So, the fact that I’ve already fought him, I believe it can help with some aspects of the fight, like his movement and attacks.”

Apart from Lineker-Andrade II, ONE Fight Night 7 also features nine other bouts. It will take place at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium and will be aired live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

John Lineker is banking on his world-ending power in Fabricio Andrade rematch

Former world champion John Lineker is on a mission to reclaim the ONE bantamweight world title stripped from him, anchoring his attack on his trademark punching power.

‘Hands of Stone’ will take on rival Fabricio ‘Wonder Boy’ Andrade in a rematch for the vacant bantamweight world title on February 24 at ONE Fight Night 7 in Bangkok.

The Brazilian warriors will try to put a dot on their world championship mix-up after their first encounter last October was ruled a no-contest. John Lineker shared that his punching power will still be a key part of his assault and will not hesitate to unleash it if the opportunity presents itself.

He told ONE Championship:

“As always, I will look for the knockout. This time will be no different. I just need one punch to win the fight.”

Apart from attending to his game plan for the rematch, John Lineker is also working on maintaining weight so as not to have a repeat of what happened in the first fight, where he was stripped of the title prior to the match for failing to keep his weight within the limit.
