Nong-O Gaiyanghadao may look invincible in ONE Championship, but Jonathan Haggerty believes Alaverdi Ramazanov has what it takes to upend the dominant ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion.

Haggerty, in an interview with ONE Championship, said that Alaverdi is fully capable of taking a shock win over Nong-O in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 1 this Friday at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.

The former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion pointed out that Nong-O has just a small window to take out the Russian striker, and that he should capitalize on that as soon as possible.

Jonathan Haggerty said:

“I'm gonna go with Alaverdi. I don't know actually, seeing what Capitan did to Allaverdi, it's tough. If Nong-O doesn't beat him in the first two rounds, Alaverdi is going to win.”

Alaverdi, a former ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion, is riding a three-fight winning streak in his Muay Thai matches in ONE Championship with his latest win being a split decision win over Capitan Petchyindee at ONE 161 in September 2022.

Nong-O, meanwhile, is 9-0 inside the circle and is on a streak of four straight knockouts.

ONE Friday Fights 1 is the first installment of ONE Championship’s weekly cards at Lumpinee Stadium and will be broadcast live across the promotion’s YouTube channel and digital platforms.

Jonathan Haggerty wants dream match with Nong-O Gaiyanghadao

Nong-O Gaiyanghadao is still as active as anyone in the sport, but the Thai superstar is already being tabbed as one of Muay Thai’s greatest-ever athletes.

The 36-year-old boasts a professional record of 264-54-10, multiple world titles in Lumpinee, and has defended the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title six times since 2019.

It’s no wonder that Nong-O’s name has been thrown around as a dream opponent for the top stars of this era, including Jonathan Haggerty.

The British star recently moved up to bantamweight and he mentioned in an interview with South China Morning Post that Non-O is the one fighter he’d like to tussle with in his new weight class:

"I did say I would come out here and not call anyone out. But since I’m here now, I might as well. I feel like Nong-O [Gaiyanghadao]. I’d love to fight Nong-O, it would be a dream come true. I feel like I’ve got the footwork. I’ve got the speed.”
