Junto Nakatani delivered a stunning knockout victory over Tasana Salapat at Ariake Arena in Tokyo on Oct. 14. The undefeated Japanese fighter successfully defended his WBC bantamweight title for the second time, stopping his Thai opponent in the sixth round of their scheduled 12-round contest.
Nakatani’s precision, control, and devastating power were on full display as he overwhelmed Salapat, dropping him twice in the final round before the referee called a halt at 2:59.
Salapat, who entered the fight with only one previous loss, showed flashes of potential in the third and fourth rounds. But, Nakatani’s superior boxing skills and relentless pressure proved too much.

Tenshin Nasukawa defeated Gerwin Asilo in co-main event
In the co-main event, Japanese former kickboxing champion Tenshin Nasukawa earned a unanimous decision victory over Gerwin Asilo from the Philippines. Nasukawa showcased his technical ability throughout the 10-round bout, using sharp jabs and clean combinations to control the pace.
Although Asilo found some success with body shots and powerful punches in the later rounds, Nasukawa remained composed and scored a knockdown in Round 9.
Judges scored the fight 97-92, 98-91, 98-91, securing Nasukawa's win and adding another triumph to his transition from kickboxing to boxing.
Phumelele Cafu secured the WBO junior bantamweight title
South Africa’s unbeaten Phumelele Cafu upset defending WBO junior bantamweight champion Kosei Tanaka in a closely contested 12-round bout. Cafu won via split decision, with two judges scoring it 114-113 in his favor and one judge scoring it 114-113 for Tanaka.
Cafu’s performance was highlighted by a crucial knockdown in the fifth round, which shifted the momentum in his favor. Although Tanaka pushed hard in the final round, Cafu’s resilience and counterpunching earned him the title.
Anthony Olascuaga vs. Jonathan Gonzalez ruled no-contest
WBO flyweight champion Anthony Olascuaga (7-1-1 ND, 5 KOs) retained his belt after his bout with Jonathan Gonzalez (28-3-1-1 NC, 14 KOs) ended in a no-contest. The fight was stopped abruptly in the first round due to a cut suffered by Gonzalez from an accidental headbutt.
Although Gonzalez appeared capable of continuing, the referee halted the fight, leaving the crowd and Gonzalez disappointed.
