Martin Nguyen shares his thoughts on upcoming opponent Shamil Gasanov

'The Situ-Asian' Martin Nguyen is in for a tough fight at the upcoming ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. The former two-division world champion is set to face undefeated Dagestani wrestler Shamil 'The Cobra' Gasanov.

Nguyen discussed his February 24 match against the Russian in an interview with ONE Championship. The 33-year-old fighter explained:

"I feel like his strengths are obviously his grappling. He's coming from Russia, they're strong guys, they love their wrestling, and on the flip side of his wrestling, he's got jiu-jitsu."

Martin Nguyen is impressed with his opponent following his recent performances. Gasanov had a dominant win over Kim Jae Woong, about which 'The Situ-Asian' spoke with SCMP MMA and said:

"Obviously, he’s manhandled them and submitted them. Most recently that last opponent Kim Jae Woong. I don’t know about that fight, but yeah. He came in and did his thing, checked him out, and made it look easy. He just cracked the rankings and on to the next guy."

Martin Nguyen is a dangerous striker with power in each hand. Impressively, he has won over 70% of his fights by way of KO/TKO. Nguyen will look to stop the streaking Gasanov when they battle at ONE Fight Night 7.

Martin Nguyen says he's aiming for a knockout

If Shamil 'The Cobra' Gasanov thinks he's going to get an easy win, Nguyen says that he's got another thing coming. 'The Situ-Asian' told SCMP MMA:

“I feel like he’s going to come out and underestimate me. Try to stalk me down and I do what I do best. I’ll counter his strikes and I’ll knock him out.”

At ONE Fight Night 7, Shamil Gasanov will be looking to extend his undefeated streak to 14 wins. He is a dangerous Dagestani grappler with lethal skills. Meanwhile, Martin Nguyen will be looking to make a statement with a powerful KO victory to get back in the win column.
