Mikey Musumeci proudly announced that his older sister Tammi Musumeci won her fourth IBJJF no-gi world title over the weekend.

Lawyer by day and grappler by night, Tammi, 28, continues to conquer the BJJ world with her tenacious spirit and incredible pedigree. At the 2022 IBJJF Worlds, which ran from December 8- December 11, the Italian-American sensation wowed fans with a rear-naked-choke submission against Jasmine Rocha to win the gold medal.

Achieving her fourth no-gi world championship, her brother and training partner Mikey Musumeci made sure she got the attention she deserves after a hard-won tournament.

On Instagram, he posted a picture of Tammi with the following caption:

“TAMMI NOW 5X BLACK BELT WORLD CHAMPION! My sister did it and is now the 2022 NOGI BLACK BELT WORLD CHAMPION. 😭❤️ Tammi works 5 days a week as a lawyer, and on her weekend off we drove to Cali, where she won her 5th world title in black belt. I’m so proud of her for her performance today, but also for the person she is. #proudbrother

Tammi is the definition of hard work, resilience, and perseverance. She is widely known for refusing to tap out of an armbar, despite having her arm dislocated by multiple-world champion Michelle Nicolini in the 2014 IBJJF final.

Although she lost the match via points, she received a standing ovation from the crowd for her toughness and incredible willpower. Apart from her no-gi world titles, Tammi also claimed first place in the 2019 IBJJF world championship.

If that doesn’t prove what type of athlete she is, what will?

Mikey Musumeci returns to defend his crown against sambo world champion Sayan Khertek

The sambo vs. jiu-jitsu rivalry continues as BJJ wizard Mikey Musumeci returns to the circle to defend his crown against sambo world champion Sayan Khertek at ONE on Prime Video 6: Superbon vs. Allazov.

Both men are scheduled to headline the co-main event at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, January 13 under the submission-only grappling ruleset, which will be broadcast live for North American audiences with a Prime subscription.

With sambo down 0-4 in submission grappling competitions in ONE Championship, experienced Russian newcomer Sayan Khertek will attempt to give sambo its first golden star by defeating the poster boy of submission grappling, Mikey Musumeci, for the flyweight world title.

However, Musumeci won’t be beaten that easily. ‘Darth Rigatoni’ is riding high with a two-fight win streak under the promotion, including a unanimous decision win against former rival Cleber Sousa in September and a submission win against MMA legend Masakazu Imanari last April.

This will be another intriguing matchup between opposites that will garner widespread interest.
