Premier League football club Newcastle United have trolled Conor McGregor on social media, following their 1-0 win over Arsenal at St James' Park on the weekend.
Despite being self-proclaimed Manchester United fan, McGregor was in attendance and supporting Arsenal for their clash against Newcastle. The Irishman has attended a number of the London club's games this season, making headlines when he got on the pitch at the Emirates Stadium and spoke with the players, following their Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain last month.
Alexander Isak scored the only goal of the game, a 12th-minute header courtesy of a picture perfect cross by Anthony Gordon. The Magpies' defense then held firm for the rest of the match, further denting Arsenal's title hopes.
Following their impressive win, Newcastle United's Instagram account shared two pictures of Conor McGregor. One image showed 'The Notorious' looking happy, whilst the second photo saw him looking concerned. They captioned the post:
"How it started vs how it's going...Hope you enjoyed your trip to St. James' Park, @thenotoriousmma 😘"
Newcastle United then took to trolling of Conor McGregor a step further in the comments, where they opted to hit him with one of his own iconic lines. Referencing McGregor's post-fight speech following his UFC 205 win over Eddie Alvarez, they wrote:
"On this post, we'd like to take this chance to apologise… to absolutely nobody"

Kamaru Usman wants to see Ilia Topuria vs. Conor McGregor next
Kamaru Usman recently weighed in on Ilia Topuria's stunning UFC 308 knockout win over Max Holloway. He believes the UFC must capitalize on his rising star status.
'El Matador' successfully defended his featherweight title for the first time against Holloway and also became the first man to knockout 'Blessed' in his professional career.
Speaking on his Pound 4 Pound podcast, 'The Nigerian Nightmare' dismissed the idea of Topuria facing a contender next, instead believing he should be booked against McGregor to make the biggest fight possible. He explained:
"[Topuria] is delivering. He comes off [brash and overconfident] but that's all the recipe of what you need of a disruptor, of a star. So to send him to the moon right now, why not give him Conor at [155 pounds]? ... Why not give him Conor? ... A stadium in Spain. He becomes the next Conor McGregor."
