Reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama has been following the progress of British fighter Jonathan Haggerty in ONE Championship for a while now and said he is excited for their world title showdown next month.

The two fighters will collide in the headlining bout at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video on April 21 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.

Speaking to ONE Championship, Nong-O shared Jonathan Haggerty’s skills and technique have caught his attention and that he expects an explosive showdown when they meet.

“I’ve been watching Haggerty for a long time now, going back to his world title fights against Rodtang. He’s very skilled and uses many different Muay Thai techniques,” said the champion, alluding to fellow Thai superstar and world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

“The General,” the former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, lost to Rodtang Jitmuangnon in their two world championship bouts, but was very competitive on both occasions.

The Haggerty fight will be the eighth world title defense for the Thai superstar since becoming champion in 2019. His most recent successful defense was over Russian challenger Alaverdi Ramazanov with a third-round knockout back in January.

All ONE Fight Night events are broadcast live and for free in North America via Prime Video.
