ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong is looking to keep things moving at the top of the heap of the women’s atomweight division, including the crowning of an interim world champion.
With reigning division queen Angela Lee possibly out for some time to deal with a personal tragedy, the promotion is now considering having the top contenders in the division mix it up for an alternate title.
Chatri Sityodtong shared this with SCMP MMA in a recent interview:
“I think we’re going to do an interim [women’s atomweight] world title shot. Let’s see what happens with Stamp Fairtex and Alyse Anderson.”

Chatri Sityodtong was referring to the clash between Thai superstar Stamp Fairtex and American fireball Alyse Anderson, who will lock horns at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5 in Colorado, U.S.A.
The winner of the showdown is widely expected to get the inside track on a shot for the interim women’s atomweight world title.
Also figuring in the conversation is South Korean veteran Ham Seo Hee, who recently raced to her third straight win to further underscore her standing as a deserving challenger.
Stamp Fairtex and Ham Seo Hee are the number one and two contenders, respectively, in the division.
ONE Fight Night 10 is the first-ever live on-ground event hosted by ONE Championship in the United States. It will take place at 1stBank Center in Denver, Colorado, and will be aired live and for free to all North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.
Ham Seo Hee reveals she ‘got chills’ when ONE CEO said she gets world title shot next
Since joining ONE Championship in 2021, Ham Seo Hee has had her eyes on winning a world title. She got closer to getting a shot after securing another victory in her most recent fight.
‘Hamzzang’ was a unanimous decision winner over Itsuki Hirata of Japan in their atomweight clash at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video on March 24 in Singapore.
The win was the third straight for No. 2 contender Ham in ONE Championship, further solidifying her standing as a worthy title challenger.
In the post-event interview following her win, the veteran South Korean fighter was thrilled to share that no less than ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirmed to her that she will fight for a world championship of some kind in her next fight.
Ham said:
“I was very happy. I got chills when I heard directly from Mr. Chatri Sityodtong. It's the only thing I've wanted since joining this organization, and I'm very excited.”
It remains to be seen, however, whether it will be straight against reigning division queen Angela Lee or whether she will compete for an interim world title.
Lee is expected to be out for a while as she and her family deal with a personal tragedy.
ONE, meanwhile, is looking at setting up a fight for an interim world title while the reigning champion is on the sidelines.
Ham is among the fighters being considered for the alternate title, along with No. 1 contender Stamp Fairtex, who is set to collide with another top athlete Alyse Anderson in ONE’s first-ever United States live on-ground show on May 5
