Another exciting card of martial arts was witnessed inside the Madison Square Garden of the East - Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday morning, as 12 fights across MMA, submission grappling, Muay Thai, and kickboxing thrilled combat sports fans.
Two world title fights headlined the event. Jarred Brooks and Gustavo Balart were fighting for the ONE interim strawweight world title, while Danielle Kelly defended her ONE atowmweight submission grappling world title against Mayssa Bastos.
Below, find out who among the card's athletes earned the coveted $50,000 bonus from ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
#3. Aliff Sor Dechapan (catchweight Muay Thai)
Aliff Sor Dechanpan returned to the win column and buried his two-fight losing streak from Zhang Piemian and Ellis Badr Barboza by beating Zakaria El Jamari in their catchweight Muay Thai fight with a first-round knockout win in the second match of the card.
The 20-year-old phenom caught El Jamari with a solid kick to the head for the first knockdown in the fight. But the Moroccan beat the referee's eight count and continued the fight. However, Aliff quickly wrapped the match with a right hook that completely floored the 34-year-old. This incredible triumph warranted him a $50,000 bonus.
#2. Elias Mahmoudi (flyweight kickboxing)
No.5-ranked ONE flyweight kickboxing contender Elias Mahmoudi recorded his fourth win in the promotion after he engineered a buzzer-beating knockout of No.3-ranked Taiki Naito in the final round of their bout to gravitate toward a potential world title opportunity.
'The Sniper' silenced the 'Silent Sniper' with a picture-perfect spinning back fist that put the Japanese star out cold. Mahmoudi first scored a knockdown in the opening round with the same exact strike that sat Naito down on the canvas but beat the referee's count.
#1. Mayssa Bastos (ONE atomweight submission grappling world title match)
Mayssa Bastos dethroned Danielle Kelly as the ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion after she eked out a unanimous decision win in the co-main event of the card. The Brazilian star showed constant aggression and multiple leg locks to sway the judges and give her the win.
Aside from reaching the pinnacle of success, Bastos also became the first athlete on the roster to give Kelly a defeat and stain her previously perfect record. Additionally, a $50,000 performance bonus from the ONE honcho capped off her crowning glory as the new queen of the atomweight submission grappling queen.
