On Friday night, November 8, the Iranian powerhouse could take a big step toward that goal when he returns to the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok for a high-stakes scrap with 17-time BJJ world champion Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida.

Their bout will be one of many can't-miss clashes as ONE Championship is set to deliver one of the biggest combat sports events of the year—ONE 169.

With a win over Almeida, Aliakbari could very well be the next man in line for a shot at the ONE heavyweight MMA world title. Of course, getting past 'Buchecha' will be no easy task, but Aliakbari truly believes that his trust in God will eventually take him to the top of the division.

"What inspires me is achieving my goals and my dreams in life," Aliakbari told ONE Championship. "My biggest strengths are patience and trust in God. My biggest challenge in life has always been to become a champion in my sport."

Amir Aliakbari goes into ONE 169 with four straight wins

After coming up short in his first two promotional appearances, Amir Aliakbari has footing his footing over the last couple of years and goes into ONE 169 riding an incredible four-fight win streak—all of them ending inside the distance.

Aliakbari's knockouts against Mauri Cerilli, Brandon 'The Truth' Vera, and Dustin Joynson were nothing short of impressive, but his dominant showing against former ONE world champion Arjan Bhullar truly solidified him as a legitimate contender in the heavyweight division.

If he can manage to hand 'Buchecha' a second-straight loss inside the Mecca of Muay Thai, he will undoubtedly be the next man in line to challenge the winner of Anatoly Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug.'

Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 169: Malykhin vs. ‘Reug Reug’ live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, November 8 in U.S. primetime.
