Raphael Assuncao is a highly skilled Brazilian bantamweight fighter who has made a name for himself in the UFC. He is known for his exceptional grappling skills, having earned a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and trains out of Ascension Mixed Martial Arts in Atlanta, Georgia.

Assuncao's impressive track record boasts notable wins over some of the toughest fighters in the UFC, including Jorge Masvidal, Joe Lauzon, and Yves Jabouin. Raphael Assuncao has only been stopped twice in his career, once by a submission to Urijah Faber and once by a knockout from Erik Koch.

Throughout his career, Raphael Assuncao has competed in both featherweight and bantamweight divisions, but since dropping down to bantamweight in 2011, he remains undefeated in six fights. He has a remarkable finishing rate, with thirteen of his twenty-two wins coming by way of submission.

The highly-anticipated UFC Fight Night 221 event has another exciting match-up on the card, following a recent cancelation. Originally, Kyler Phillips was set to face off against Raphael Assuncao in a bantamweight clash, but withdrew from the fight for undisclosed reasons. However, fans can still expect an excellent fight, as Assuncao's new opponent is former SNA bantamweight champion and The Ultimate Fighter 18 finalist, Davey Grant.

Assuncao has long been a fixture in the bantamweight category and was once regarded as its top contender. The Brazilian combatant had an 11-1 record in his first 12 fights, which spanned over seven years. He also has the second-longest winning streak in UFC bantamweight history with seven wins, tied with former champions TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao.
