Australian veteran fighter Reece McLaren is bracing himself for a possible world title shot in the near future. He sees himself as a “great matchup” for the top warriors in ONE Championship’s flyweight division, like Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson.
‘Lightning’ takes the Circle on May 5 at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video at 1stBank Center in Colorado, U.S.A. in a rematch against former flyweight king Kairat Akhmetov.
Reece McLaren is gunning for a win, which he expects to put him first in line for a world title shot against either reigning world champion Demetrious Johnson or No. 1 contender Adriano Moraes. The duo will dispute the belt in the headlining fight at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video.

In the event of a win, the Boonchu Gym representative said that he could hold his own against Johnson and Moraes and give them a tough time in a world championship fight. He told ONE Championship in an interview:
“I think I’ll match up great against (Johnson or Moraes). I have a big left foot and a bigger right hand, and I’m learning to make it count.”
Reece McLaren is no stranger to challenging for a world title, having done so early in his ONE Championship journey when he battled former ONE bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes. While he fell short in his quest, he provided a valiant showing, losing by split decision.
He's now looking to finally break through in the flyweight lane, beginning with his rematch with Kairat Akhmatov, who's riding a five-match winning streak. ONE Fight Night 10 will be aired live and for free to all North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.

Australian Reece McLaren loves tough, high-quality matches and feels fortunate to be fighting in the flyweight division of ONE Championship, where the competition is stacked.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA, ’Lightning' said that for him, the flyweight lane is one of the deepest divisions in mixed martial arts, and ONE has a solid roster of fighters. Reece McLaren said:
“I’ve said it for a long time, I believe that the best flyweights are in ONE. And with DJ (Demetrious Johnson) there, you can’t even argue that it’s not. ... Looking at it all, this is where you want to be.”
The veteran fighter from Land Down Under is No. 4 in the rankings. Ahead of him is reigning ONE flyweight world champion Johnson, followed by No. 1 contender Adriano Moraes and Kairat Akhmetov at No. 2. Rounding out the top five are Filipino Danny Kingad at No. 3 and China’s Xie Wei at No. 5.
Reece McLaren and Kairat Akhmetov will battle at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5 in the United States, where Johnson and Moraes will also collide in the headlining world championship fight.
