Back in October 2020, ‘The Dutch Knight’ earned his chance to fight former double-world champion ‘The Burmese Python’ for the ONE middleweight world title. He arrived on the stage with an already impressive and indestructible record of 12-0, primarily winning most of his bouts via stoppages.

Aung La N Sang, for his part, was at the pinnacle of his career. He defeated Russian powerhouse Vitaly Bigdash for the middleweight gold. He then added another feather to his cap by taking the ONE light heavyweight world title from Alexandre Machado.

Both De Ridder and Aung La have never been truly tested in terms of skill. However, that night, The Burmese Python’ was left dumbfounded by his opponent’s ridiculous ability to find the submission in the first round.

Reinier de Ridder promises to submit Tye Ruotolo in a “very close matchup”

For his next grappling match, Reinier de Ridder will allow his experience as a master submission specialist to dictate where the fight is going to go.

As opposed to Tye Ruotolo, who prefers to waste no time and look for that early finish, De Ridder is going in with a different strategy.

Speaking to SCMP MMA, ‘The Dutch Knight’ revealed:

“He’s very fast. He’s very agile and he’s a great grappler. I think it’s going to be a very close matchup, very explosive. I think it’s very important, the one who can conserve his energy for the 10 minute round will come out on top in the end. I’m going to tap this guy out.”

Both grapplers are expected to put on a heck of an entertaining show, but many believe De Ridder has the edge in this matchup based on his height, size, and experience.

His elite grappling skills have proven time and again that he continues to be a force to be reckoned with. So, if Ruotolo doesn’t find a way out, he’ll be the victim of another submission.

ONE Fight Night 10 will take place on May 5 at 1stBank Center. It will be broadcast live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
