Rhiannon Dixon vs. Terri Harper is just around the corner. The headlining bout of the event has undergone many changes but seems to have been finalized now. In the main event, Dixon will attempt the first defense of her WBO lightweight title against three-division champion Terri Harper.
The pair were initially booked to compete on the Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis undercard on Aug. 24 at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England. However, the fight was postponed to September as the event was canceled after Catterall sustained a training injury.
The fight was expected to be on the Dalton Smith vs. Jon Fernandez undercard but the headlining bout was canceled once again. The new main event, Johny Fisher vs. Andriy Rudenko was also canceled. As a result, Dixon vs. Harper was elevated to the main event slot.
Dixon won the vacant WBO female lightweight title in April with a unanimous decision victory over Karen Elizabeth Carabajal. Heading into the fight, she holds a 10-0 (1 KO) professional boxing record.
Harper, who lost the WBO female welterweight title to Sandy Ryan in March, is the more experienced boxer. She has held titles in the lightweight, super welterweight, and super featherweight divisions and holds a 9-2-2 record in title fights. Overall, she is 14-2-2 as a professional boxer.
The card also features Cameron Vuong vs. Joe Underwood Hughes and Peter McGrail vs. Brad Foster while five other boxers on the card do not have opponents at the time of this writing.
