Rodtang Jitmuangnon has had a remarkable start to 2023, not just inside the circle but also in his personal life. The ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion was ordained as a monk in January and was then married to Aida Looksaikongdin a month later.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Rodtang recalled how he and Aida had a rough start to their relationship. The Thai superstar even said that the two of them initially broke up before finding each other again a few years down the road.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon said:

“I met Aida in 2020, we talked through messages and got closer until we decided to date each other. We once broke up because we didn’t understand each other. That time my wife was still 17 or 18 years old. But when we both grew up, we talked to each other again and decided to begin again in our relationship until we were married.”

He also pointed out that being a family man has always been his personal goal and that settling down is the one thing he's wanted to do after fighting professionally.

"I always wanted to live the married life and have a family because I’m getting older. I’ve been a fighter for a long time and I’m tired. You can’t stay in this career forever. As a fighter, time is limited for us in this career. I want to live the rest of my life with my happy family.”

Though it has yet to be seen, Rodtang might just develop a new fighting style in his career after getting married. ‘The Iron Man’ will try to become a two-sport world champion when he challenges Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.

The entire card will be available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
