Sage Northcutt opened up about his fighting career during an online Ask Me Anything session.

As Northcutt prepares for his ONE Championship return against Ahmed Mujtaba, he decided to promote ONE Fight Night 10 with a friendly interaction with fans online. ‘Super’ Sage participated in an online Q&A where people on Reddit could find out more about one of their favorite fighters.

There were various questions about Northcutt’s fighting career and personal life. One fan asked if he would compete in ONE’s different rulesets, including Muay Thai, kickboxing, and submission grappling. Sage Northcutt responded by saying:

“Yes, I would not only like to have striking only matched with ONE but also submission grappling matches too! I may go finish my engineering degree some day.”

Another fan asked Northcutt if he would have changed any of his opponents throughout his career. The multi-time karate world champion was candid with his response:

“Yeah I probably shouldn’t have fought out of my normal weight class for my first fight with One Championship. Thanks”

Northcutt made his ONE debut in May 2019. The American usually fights at lightweight, but he fought Muay Thai specialist Cosmo Alexandre at welterweight. Alexandre spoiled the highly anticipated debut of the American star, knocking him out in the first round.

Since then, Northcutt has been inactive due to COVID, and several facial fractures suffered from the violent knockout against Alexandre.

What’s next for Sage Northcutt?

Four years after losing to Cosmo Alexandre, Sage Northcutt returns to the circle at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, the promotion’s first event on U.S. soil. Northcutt has been matched up against Ahmed Mujtaba, who has four wins in ONE Championship.

Despite a few years of inactivity due to health issues, Northcutt is still only 27 years old. The multi-time karate world champion believes his career is just getting started, which can be validated with a win against Mujtaba.

It’ll be easier said than done, however, as ‘Wolverine’ is coming off back-to-back first-round finishes. He's hoping to skyrocket his name value by taking out ‘Super' Sage.

ONE Fight Night 10 goes down on May 5 at 1stBank Center in Colorado. The card can be seen live and for free by North American Prime Video subscribers.
