The ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title triumph of Superlek Kiatmoo9 against Jonathan Haggerty in the main event of ONE 168: Denver that went down this past weekend at the Ball Arena in Colorado has made the Thai megastar a two-sport and two-division world champion.
This massive victory also added a new target on his back, especially from bantamweight Muay Thai contenders who are yearning for a world title opportunity. One of the first-ranked contenders to express his desire to face Superlek is current number two-rated divisional contender Nico Carrillo.
Carrillo wasted no time in showing interest in a clash with 'The Kicking Machine' by commenting on the post of his winning moment on Instagram, saying:
"See you @superek789🙏🏽🤟🏼🙌🏻"
'The King of the North' has earned his stripes in the division by sweeping his first four fights under the promotion and winning them by stoppage.
Fighters who are included on his hit list were Furkan Karabag (third-round TKO victory in April 2023 at ONE Friday Fights 13), Muangthai PK Seanchai (second-round TKO in June 2023 at ONE Friday Fights 22), Nong-O Hama (second-round knockout in December 2023 at ONE Friday Fights 46), and most recently, Saemapetch Fairtex (second-round TKO in July 2024 at ONE Fight Night 23).
Chatri Sityodtong lays down possible next opponents for Superlek after ONE 168 win
Although Carrillo voiced out his desire to face the Kiatmoo9 Gym representative, there are also a lot of mouth-watering matches that await Superlek, as ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong mentioned during the post-event press conference.
According to Sityodtong, Superlek could also face the reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a rematch and Thai legend Seksan Or Kwanmuang in another massive card on American soil, especially since Superlek's highly successful U.S. debut.
