Filipino sensation Stephen Loman said he won’t address Fabricio Andrade yet as his sole focus is on beating MMA veteran Bibiano Fernandes at ONE on Prime Video 4.

With the vacant bantamweight belt up for grabs, fans believe Loman is just one fight away from facing No.1-contender Fabricio Andrade. The Brazilian power striker is coming off a disappointing no-contest ruling in his world title match against John Lineker, after an unintentional knee to the groin broke Lineker’s groin cup.

Seeing as Linker is out with an injury, Andrade wasted no time in calling out Stephen Loman for a potential showdown. Loman, however, doesn’t want to address him just yet as he’s got bigger fish to fry at the moment.

He told The MMA Super-Fan:

“Right now I’m taking things one step at a time. I’m just focused on Bibiano, but I know that Andrade’s one of the best fighters right now.”

Stephen Loman and his head coach at Team Lakay, Mark Sangiao, knew that the day would come when ‘The Sniper’ would fight an opponent in the top 5 of the rankings. However, getting Bibiano Fernandes this soon was a welcome surprise. They gamely accepted the challenge without question since ‘The Flash’ has always been on Loman’s radar.

Loman and Fernandes have the potential to turn their fight into a real slugfest. Although the Brazilian veteran lost to John Lineker by knockout last March, he’s a high level grappler with an aptitude to control the pace of a fight. Loman will have his hands full when he faces his toughest challenge yet at ONE Championship.

Stephen Loman won’t take Fabricio Andrade lightly if he beats Bibiano

Stephen Loman knows Fabricio Andrade is the man to beat for the belt, therefore he needs to do his due diligence if that fight ever takes place.

Beating ‘Wonder Boy’ won’t be an easy task, especially since he has competed against the toughest competitors in the bantamweight division and has even earned a TKO victory over Loman’s Team Lakay stablemate, Jeremy Pacatiw last February at ONE: Full Circle.

However, Loman refuses to let this record intimidate him. He proposes to study his opponent and adjust his game plan according to his strengths and weaknesses when the time comes. In the same interview, Loman said:

“If I beat Bibiano, then a fight against Andrade would be another thing for me to prepare for. I really have to study Andrade closely because he had a great performance in his last match. He’s not just a regular fighter, you know.”
