The Sunny Edwards vs. Adrian Curiel flyweight boxing clash will take place later this evening at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Edwards (20-1) is a former flyweight world champion, with his sole loss having come against Jesse Rodriguez, who headlines tonight's fight card. Edwards will be hoping to get himself back into title contention and perhaps even fetch a rematch against 'Bam' with a dominant win against Curiel.

Meanwhile, Curiel (24-5-1) is a former IBF light flyweight champion. In his most recent outing, the 25-year-old lost his belt in a 10th-round TKO loss to Sivenathi Nontshinga. That said, a win against a decorated fighter like Edwards might thrust him into title contention at flyweight.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Edwards is a prohibitive favorite (-400) against Curiel, a +300 underdog.

Round 1

Edwards lands a quick right hand to start off the contest. 'Showtime' is aggressive right off the gate. He is constantly circling his opponent, keeping Curiel guessing.

Edwards is sharp, effortlessly switching stances and landing clean punches. Curiel is finding it hard to connect on his constantly moving opponent.

Curiel cuts off the ring and lands a powerful body shot. 'Gatito' is looking for opportunities to unload his left hand but an elusive Edwards is making it really hard.

Round 2

As the second round starts, Curiel is following his opponent around the ring. However, 'Showtime' is constantly peppering up his opponent, while pouncing around him just outside of punching range.

'Gatito' realizes he has a better chance of throwing to the body and is trying to connect on his opponent's midsection. A powerful body shot lands for Edwards. Curiel throws wild and misses with an overhand right. Edwards showboat.

Round 3

Edwards is still elusive on his feet. He lands a right hook up top. An uppercut slips in for 'Showtime'. Curiel is finding it hard to close distance with his opponent. In a show of domination, Edwards pushes his opponent down to the canvas.

'Gatito' lands multiple body shots in the clinch. Edwards stings his opponent with a jab, and Curiel answers with a body shot.

'Gatito' is getting visibly frustrated, not being able to land clean on his opponent. Double right hands land for 'Showtime' at the end of the round.

Round 4

Edwards constantly lading jabs on his opponent. Edwards' fancy footwork is clearly not a hit with the fans and they boo him. Curiel lands multiple powerful body shots on his opponent.

Edwards is still banking on his elusive footwork to pounce around his foe, all the while peppering him up with quick jabs and right hands. Curiel seems to be frustrated with his opponent and lethargically walks across the ring, prompting Edwards to challenge him to meet near the ropes.

Round 5

Curiel is getting peppered up by Edwards. 'Showtime' seems to be in complete control of the fight, and Curiel seems to have no answer for his opponent's superior footwork.

A check hook from Edwards momentarily knocks Curiel off balance.

Round 6

Curiel storms into the ring to meet his opponent. He is more aggressive, trying to land on his quick opponent. Edwarda showcases his quickness and he littlerly jumps out of range of a Curiel body shot.

Curil lands a left hook-up top. 'Gatito' needs to land with some regularity to get back into the fight. Curiel lands multiple shots to the body near the ropes. A big cut appears on the right eye of Edwards after an accidental head butt.

More of the same as Edwards circles around his opponent, landing crisp jabs. A crushing body shot lands for Edwards.

Round 7

Curiel comes out aggressively chasing his opponent all over the ring. He lands to the body. Curiel seems to believe the cut above the eye might put his foe at a disadvantage.

While Edwards is still relatively elusive on his feet, Curiel is having much more luck landing on the body. This is easily the best round of the fight so far for Curiel. Edwards stings his opponent with one-twos.

Curiel is whaling on his opponents near the ropes. This is an absolute dog fight folks.

Round 8

Edwards is making it round on the inside, unloading body shots. However, an inferior jab game is putting him at risk at range. Curiel is forcing inside fighting where he clearly holds the advantage in this middle round.

Edwards comes back with crisp one-twos and puts distance between him and his opponent. The cut seems to have reduced Edwards' activity, in an otherwise dominant performance.

The referee brings in the doctor, in between rounds, to check the cut. The doctor advises the fight to be stopped. The fight goes to the scorecards for a technical decision.
