Superlek Kiatmoo9 is excited to make his first flyweight kickboxing world title defense at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video, as he'll take on promotional staple Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
The 27-year-old secured his first world title in ONE Championship in January, defeating Daniel Puertas via unanimous decision to attain the vacant belt.
He will have a tough task ahead as he faces reigning flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon. The Thai star is hoping to become a multi-sport champion with a victory at ONE Fight Night 8 in March.
Superlek is eager to share the circle with a fellow world champion, posting on Instagram:
Rodtang eyeing belts in multiple sports, will face Superlek for flyweight kickboxing supremacy
Rodtang isn't content with just holding the flyweight Muay Thai world title. Instead, he's aiming to acquire belts in both kickboxing and MMA prior to becoming a father.
He told the South China Morning Post:
“My goal is still the same. I’d like to make a run at MMA and kickboxing gold. I want to develop myself into a better athlete and try out different sports. And I’d like to start a family of my own soon. I want to find a special someone to live with and settle down with.”
The flyweight Muay Thai king added:
“I will set my goals one by one. First, I will go for the kickboxing belt and next it will be in MMA. I have defended my belt in Muay Thai four times and I think it’s time to move for another belt.”
Rodtang has a staggering amount of experience despite being just 25 years of age, passing one tough test after another. Superlek will pose a bevy of problems, being one of the most dangerous strikers in all of ONE Championship.
