Terence Crawford recently denounced Canelo Alvarez for claiming that the latter would be an "easy fight" for him. The buzz within the boxing community about a potential super fight between Alvarez and Crawford intensified after 'Bud' triumphed over Israil Madrimov to claim the WBA junior middleweight title.

On Monday, at a press conference for his upcoming bout against Edgar Berlanga on Sept. 14, Alvarez was questioned about the possibility of facing Crawford. He responded that he would be open to the fight "if the money is right," particularly in the ballpark of $150 million. However, the Mexican boxing superstar added that if Crawford wants to compete in the 168-pound division, it would be an easy contest for him.

During a recent appearance on The PorterWay Podcast, 'Bud' took aim at Alvarez for avoiding a fight by rejecting Turki Alalshikh's offer. Crawford also lashed out at the Mexican for belittling him as a trivial adversary:

"I heard him say I’m easy work. If I was easy work you’d take all that money that he [Alalshikh] is offering you, but still he wants $200 million for Benavidez and he wants $150 million to fight me. So that just lets me know right there I’m a threat. I’m a threat to him and his legacy because it would be crazy for a guy that started at 135 [pounds] and came all the way upto 168 [pounds], your weight, no catchweight and dethrone you."

Alalshikh appears to have cut off any future collaboration opportunities with Alvarez. This decision comes in the wake of a social media outburst from Alalshikh, criticizing Alvarez for dismissing the possibility of working together unless it was strictly on his own terms.

Bob Santos warns Terence Crawford against potentially fighting Canelo Alvarez at super middleweight

The prospect of a potential fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez is enticing for combat sports fans. However, renowned boxing trainer Bob Santos believes that Alvarez would be an exceptionally tough opponent for 'Bud' in the super middleweight division.

During a recent interview with BoxingScene, Santos said:

"I think it’ll be a step too big for him [Crawford] but he has earned the right to try it. I think Canelo would be too big and too strong for him at 168 [pounds]. I could be wrong. He could prove us wrong. But for the most part, I think that’s just a lot to ask of 'Bud' to go to 168 [pounds]."
