“The fight makes total sense” - Danial Williams says he couldn’t wait any longer for inevitable Rodtang-Takeru showdown

Danial Williams believes the inevitable matchup between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Takeru Segawa is the most sensible fight ONE Championship could put on in 2025.

In an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, the three-sport phenom said a meeting between Rodtang and Takeru needs to happen following their victories this year.

Rodtang is coming off two unanimous decision wins against Denis Puric at ONE 167 and Jacob Smith at ONE 169, while Takeru knocked Thant Zin out at ONE Friday Fights 81.

Danial Williams said:

"I’ll definitely be watching it. It’s been a long time coming and the fight makes total sense."

The kickboxing world was shaken to its foundations when Takeru, the only three-division world champion in K-1 Kickboxing history, signed with ONE Championship in 2022.

He was initially scheduled to face Rodtang in his debut at ONE 165, but the former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion had to pull out of the match due to injuries.

Takeru ultimately challenged Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title, but he fell to defeat via unanimous decision despite a near-finish in the third round.

Rodtang, meanwhile, had two barnburner matches this year when he took on Denis Puric and Jacob Smith, both of which ended in unanimous decision wins for the 'The Iron Man'.

Danial Williams plans to put on dynamite showing against Thongpoon at ONE Fight Night 26

Danial Williams can always be relied on when it comes to pure high-octane entertainment.

The Thai-Australian star is that rare breed of fighter who competes in MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing in ONE Championship.

Williams now plans to add to his mind-bending resume when he takes on the flamboyant Thongpoon PK Saenchai at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6 at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.

In the same interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Williams said he wants to put on a show in front of the Bangkok crowd regardless of what result he'll get against Thongpoon:

"On the flip side, win, lose, or draw, I just want to make sure I put on a good fight. That’s the mindset I carry into each and every one of my fights."
