ONE Championship newcomer Nico Cornejo is excited about the opportunity to make his debut on martial arts' biggest global stage—but he'd be lying if he didn't admit to being a bit nervous. After a successful amateur career and a solid start to his pro MMA run—going 2-0 with back-to-back knockouts—'The Steel City Kid' will look to introduce himself to the world on Friday, Sept. 6, when ONE Championship heads to his home state of Colorado for a loaded ONE 168: Denver card.
There, Cornejo will meet one of the most exciting prospects in all of mixed martial arts, Adrian Lee.
Speaking with local network 9News, Cornejo shared how he's feeling ahead of his big opportunity, saying:

"There’s a little bit of nerves, which is, you know, natural. But I'm excited. I'm so stoked to go out there and face Adrian Lee."
Before making his promotional debut next month, Cornejo has been a staple on the Colorado regional scene, amassing an unbeaten 7-0 between his amateur and pro fights combined.
Adrian Lee plans to spoil Nico Cornejo's big debut at ONE 168: Denver
Standing in Nico Cornejo's way of his biggest win yet is Adrian Lee, a fighter who was on every pundit's radar long before he made his promotional debut in June.
'The Phenom' first stepped inside the Circle at ONE 167 in Bangkok for a matchup with Italian standout Antonio Mammarella.
Though it took Lee a little longer than he'd hoped, the Prodigy Training Center star still snagged the submission victory, tapping out Mammarella via RNC under the two-minute mark of the second stanza.
Will Lee add a second career win to his resume in Denver, or will Nico Cornejo's home-field advantage be the difference maker against the budding superstar from Hawaii?
