Shamil Gasanov extended his winning streak to three with a unanimous decision win over Halil Amir at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6. However, 'The Cobra' didn't leave this featherweight MMA clash unscathed, as 'No Mercy' refused to quit and gave him quite the scare in the final frame.

The Dagestani wrestling specialist stuck to his guns and dominated the first two rounds, as he rag-dolled Amir with vicious slams.

Once on the ground, Gasanov applied suffocating top pressure and softened up his foe with some powerful ground-and-pound.

The always dangerous Amir, however, rallied in the dying seconds of the third and sunk what appeared to be a deep guillotine choke, which he then switched into a D'arce.

Shamil Gasanov was able to slither his way out and ended up in a dominant position as time expired.

In his post-event interview with ONE Championship, the Russian insisted that Amir never got close to finishing him:

"There wasn’t a choke at all. He was holding my jaw, but there was nothing dangerous or threatening in that position. I regularly find myself in similar situations during training, deliberately giving up dangerous positions to learn how to escape."

Shamil Gasanov admits Halil Amir was a worthy adversary

Shamil Gasanov is used to breaking his opponents who often get overwhelmed by his non-stop pressure.

Halil Amir, though, kept pushing until the end and indeed gave the Peresvet Fight Team and Tiger Muay Thai affiliate all he could handle.

'The Cobra' said in the same interview:

"I gave him my all. I gave it 100 percent. I almost wasn't able to go through the game plan that we had crafted with my coach, but in the end of it, it worked out and we won the match."
