Justin Gaethje feels as if the UFC should be giving him a championship opportunity next considering what he did for them by taking the Max Holloway fight. At UFC 300, Holloway ended up scoring a buzzer beater knockout over Gaethje to claim the BMF belt in April of last year but there were some interesting behind the scenes machinations that led to that matchup being booked.
During an interview on The Makeshift Project, Gaethje said:
"They owe me a championship fight. I'm 3-1 [in my] last four. They came to my house begging me to fight Max Holloway on UFC 300. I consider it an exhibition fight. I don't mean that the loss is not on my record. I mean it had nothing to do with the rankings of my; and in the time that I did that, Dustin Poirier, who I just beat, got a good win over [Benoit] Saint-Denis."
"Then [Poirier] fought for the belt. Then since I've won, the champion has been saying he wants to fight me. So they could have easily set that up but they didn't. Then he [Ilia Topuria] vacates and then Oliveira's 2-2 in his last four, already has a loss to Makhachev... So I'm not gonna fight any of these motherf***ers for fun unless they pay me so much more money."

Justin Gaethje may retire without a UFC title shot next, according to manager
Justin Gaethje is supposedly so serious about his desire to secure another crack at the UFC lightweight crown next that he may even hang up the gloves outright per his manager's account of things.
Ali Abdelaziz recently stated this during a recent interview with Submission Radio where he said that Gaethje should be next for the winner of the Ilia Topuria vs Charles Oliveira clash for the vacant 155-pound title at UFC 317 at month's end.
When touching upon the situation that the Arizona native now finds himself in, Abdelaziz said:
"If anyone said he doesn't deserve it - he said, 'If I'm not going to fight for the title, I'm just going to hang up my gloves.'"
