Although Islam Makhachev grabbed a unanimous decision win over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284, it was not all smooth sailing for the Dagestani Sambo maestro.
The 155-pound division's bogeyman was beaten, battered, and almost finished by the featherweight champion during the dying minutes of the fifth round.
A quick right hand by 'The Great' sent Makhachev crashing down onto the canvas with just 1:08 minutes left on the clock. Thereafter, the Australian attained top control and finished the round strong, raining down punches on the lightweight champion.
