"Very happy with that" - Ayaka Miura pleased to execute trademark submission to perfection vs. Macarena Aragon 

It was business as usual for submission specialist Ayaka Miura at ONE 169 last Friday, Nov. 8.

The former ONE strawweight MMA world title challenger made it back-to-back triumphs in the atomweight division with a trademark "Ayaka Lock" — scarf-hold Americana — at the 2:20 of the opening round.

Before the match-winning maneuver, though, the 34-year-old conceded that she had it tough against fellow judo black belt, Macarena Aragon, who proved to be a tough puzzle to solve.

Speaking to Mitch Chilson during an in-ring interview, Ayaka Miura offered:

"I couldn't get anything going with judo. So I tried my best to take her down, and I had what we call the "Ayaka Lock" in ONE, and I was able to do it today. I'm very happy with that."

Adding the cherry on the cake, Ayaka Miura's highlight-reel victory over Macarena Aragon earned her a US$50,000 performance bonus from ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

During the same exchange with Chilson inside the hallowed ring of the Mecca of Muay Thai, the Tokyo-based warrior shared how she'd want to cash in on her additional prize money:

"I want to thank my trainers, my boyfriend, and everyone in my gym for spending time with me. I will spend the bonus with you guys."

The Tribe Tokyo MMA athlete's scarf-hold Americana inside Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium last week was her eighth such finish in her resume.

Under the ONE banner alone, the Japanese veteran has used the same submission to draw taps from Meng Bo, Rayane Bastos, Samara Santos, Maira Mazar, and Laura Balin.
