Judo star Ayaka Miura may have come up short at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, but she put forth a good showing, including sinking in her 'Ayaka Lock'.
Miura locked in her patented 'Ayaka Lock' about three minutes into her submission grappling match against Danielle Kelly. However, her opponent's toughness and savviness allowed her to escape the position.
'Zombie' represented herself well in her submission grappling debut, going the distance with someone as accomplished as Danielle Kelly. Not only did she not get submitted, but Miura actually had some highlight moments during the match.
One of which saw her put Kelly in the most precarious position that she has been in since joining ONE in 2021.

Ayaka Miura eyeing potential rematch with strawweight queen Xiong Jing Nan
The 32-year-old amassed a 4-3 record inside the circle before transitioning to submission grappling at ONE Fight Night 7. Impressively, all four of her victories came by way of Americana submission.
Despite her success, Miura is still looking to avenge her loss to women's strawweight queen Xiong Jing Nan. 'Zombie' fought the champ to a decision defeat in January 2022, and she told ONE that she's eyeing a rematch:
"My natural weight [is at] atomweight. [But] I really want to challenge [for] the belt [against] Xiong Jing Nan again. I will stay at strawweight for now."
Ayaka Miura added:
"It means everything to me. It means everything to me as a lifelong martial artist. So if I can take the belt from Xiong, this is going to be everything. I have to put everything into what I've been doing. This means a lot."
Xiong has reigned supreme in the division, fending off world-class challengers in Tiffany Teo, Michelle Nicolini, Angela Lee, and Miura. If Miura wants another shot at the champ, she'll have to pick up a couple of wins at strawweight under MMA rules.
