Brazilian star Adriano Moraes has had an impressive decade-long career in ONE Championship, which he was able to achieve not only for his top-notch fighting skills but also through a lot of grit and determination. He showcased this in his showdown against Filipino Eugene Tuquero in one of his early fights in the promotion.

'Mikinho' battled Toquero on March 18, 2016 at ONE: Union of Warriors in Myanmar. He encountered early adversity when he sustained an eye injury from a flying knee that his opponent uncorked early in the opening round.

But despite left with a swollen and shut right eye and then bloodied after, Moraes forged ahead, eventually turning the tide in his favor and completing a comeback victory by way of submission (brabo choke) before the first round ended.

ONE recently posted highlights of the match on Instagram to spotlight Adriano Moraes ahead of his scheduled return to action on Nov. 8 at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug' in Thailand.

Adriano Moraes looks to showcase the same resiliency in his return match at ONE 169, where he will take on Danny Kingad of the Philippines in a featured flyweight MMA clash. It is a rematch of their first meeting in 2017, which the American Top Team standout won by submission.

The showdown will also mark the first fight of Moraes since he lost in his trilogy title fight against the now-retired Demetrious Johnson in May last year in the United States. He is out to get a win not only to bounce back but also earn another shot at the vacant flyweight world title he used to hold.

ONE 169 will take place at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok and air live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Adriano Moraes says he is in shape for ONE 169 despite long layoff

Adriano Moraes is coming off a year-and-a-half break since his last fight heading into ONE 169 on Nov. 8 in Thailand but said he is in fine shape and ready to mix it up against Danny Kingad in their featured match.

He made this assurance in an interview with Sports Illustrated, underscoring that he and his team were constantly at work during his layoff and picked things up when they learned of booking a match against Kingad.

Moraes said:

"I'm training hard here at American Top Team, I'm doing a really great camp with my teammates and all the coaches at American Top Team. I think everybody is helping me to be prepared for this action. And I will be ready, 100 percent ready for Danny Kingad."

Heading into ONE 169, Moraes is coming off back-to-back losses at the hands of former ONE flyweight MMA world champion and now-retired Demetrious Johnson.
