ONE rising star Danielle Kelly has vowed to give the debuting Mariia Molchanova a rude welcome inside the circle.

The 26-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace is still deep in training for her women’s atomweight submission grappling match against her Russian sambo specialist counterpart at ONE on Prime Video 4: Abbasov vs Lee.

The next chapter of the ongoing BJJ vs Sambo rivalry takes place this Friday, November 18, inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium. It's available for free to Amazon Prime Video subscribers.

Less than a week before the pivotal grappling showdown, Kelly sent an ominous message to her Russian foe. The training clip, which was re-posted by ONE Championship on Instagram, showed Kelly rolling with training partner Jay Rodriguez.

It appeared that the Silver Fox BJJ standout was caught in a tight armbar but somehow managed to escape the precarious position. Danielle Kelly, who’s one of the most technical BJJ practitioners out there, showcased world-class techniques to free herself.

She used her left arm to shift Rodriguez’s foot, which gave her enough wiggle room to pry her other arm out of danger. Kelly then rolled and went on the offensive by attacking her teammate’s leg and locking in a vicious heel hook that had him tapping in no time.

Check out the video below:

Shortly after, Kelly left this chilling message for Molchanova:

“I’m going to [make it] 3-0 in jiu-jitsu. It’s better than sambo.”

Moreover, Kelly also wrote this teasing caption on her original post:

“BJJ is 2-0 in @onechampionship submission grappling, I’m going to make it 3-0 on November 18th #oneonamazonprime1 @jayrod2.0 here shows how bad sambo peoples armbars are😈😈😈🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️(Ps this heel hook wasn’t serious)”.

BJJ does own the bragging rights at the moment after dominating its last two head-to-head matches over sambo. Rodrigo Marello started that off with his record-setting quick submission of Ruslan Bagdasarian at ONE 161.

Newly crowned ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo kept that momentum going by heel-hooking his way to victory against Uali Kurzhev at ONE on Prime Video 3.

Danielle Kelly no doubt wants to continue BJJ’s dominance by finishing Mariia Molchanova in a swift manner this coming Friday.

Danielle Kelly is ready to showcase a better version of herself and “prove people wrong”

Danielle Kelly joined the largest martial arts organization in the world earlier this year with a ton of hype behind her.

She justified all that with a dominant showing against veteran Mei Yamaguchi at ONE X this past March. While their grappling war ended in a draw after 12 minutes, it became evident that Kelly is truly a star in the making.

However, Kelly still deals with detractors who question her skills.

In an interview with ONE Championship, the American said she now treats criticism as white noise and it doesn’t bother her much anymore.

“I used to let the little things bother me. But I just want to go in there and just prove who I am, and prove that I'm better now than when I last competed. So yeah, I'm just staying ready, and just ready to prove people wrong.”
