The Thai businessman is currently on a trip in the countryside for the purpose of reviving smaller and struggling Muay Thai gyms across the country.

The said camps were negatively impacted during the pandemic, forcing many gyms to close down. So, as part of a new incentive to revive Thailand’s national sport, the CEO is donating millions of baht to select Muay Thai gyms all over the country.

On one of his stops, Chatri Sityodtong was seen tasting Chiang Mai’s most delicious delicacies on Instagram. After trying “Khao Soi Gai,” a coconut curry noodle soup, Chatri was seen raving about the dish, saying: “Wow! So good!”

At the beginning of the year, the CEO announced a 16-man open weight Muay Thai world grand prix tournament featuring a $1 million prize for the winner. The Thai businessman had kept names mostly under wraps but dropped one at the post-fight interviews at ONE Friday Fights 1 recently.

In the Instagram footage, Sityodtong was captured saying:

“The first person in the 16-man grand prix [is] Sinsamut.”

Sinsamut Klinmee, the former lightweight Muay Thai world title challenger, is ready to take on some of the world’s greatest Muay Thai strikers for the $1 million prize.

The exciting fighter turned a lot of heads last year with the two crazy back-to-back stoppages against Nieky Holzken at ONE X, and Liam Nolan at ONE 159: De Ridder vs. Bidash. Both victories earned him two performance bonuses of $50,000 USD in the aftermath.

He recently went toe-to-toe with double-world champion Regian Eersel for the kickboxing strap but fell short by a split decision.

With the first match of the tournament expected to kick off sometime in March, watch Sinsmut Klinmee’s upcoming rematch against kickboxing king Regian Eersel in another edition of ONE Friday Fights at the Lumpinee Stadium on March 17.
