ONE Championship Women’s Finishes

ONE Championship paid tribute to their female killers with a compilation of the best finishes in 2022.

Women in ONE have proved they can produce the same fighting entertainment as men. Throughout 2022, there were a handful of savage finishes and exciting fights in ONE, including Angela Lee vs. Stamp Fairtex being awarded the MMA Fight of The Year. The Asia-based combat sports promotion posted a YouTube video of the craziest women’s finishes of 2022 with the caption saying:

“Feast your eyes on the best submissions and knockout finishes from ONE's fearsome female stars, featuring atomweight queen Angela Lee’s mind-blowing twister submission of Natalie Gonzales Hills, Thai megastar Stamp Fairtex’s brutal first-round knockout of Puja Tomar, and more!”

The past calendar year featured various unforgettable moments from the women of ONE Championship. A new world champion emerged as the 18-year-old Smila Sundell became the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion. Janet Todd also made history by claiming the ONE Interim Atomweight Muay Thai World title in addition to her kickboxing belt. Meanwhile, other world champions, including MMA queens Angela Lee and Xiong Jing Nan, defended their thrones.

Heading into 2023, there are plenty of women’s fights to look forward to in ONE, including Danielle Kelly looking to continue dominating in submission grappling. At the moment, there is no other female fight more exciting than an atomweight mixed-rules bout between Stamp Fairtex and Anissa Meksen.

Stamp Fairtex and Anissa Meksen to make ONE Championship history by becoming the first women’s mixed-rules bout

Stamp Fairtex, the number one atomweight contender, is taking a short break from chasing MMA gold to make history another way. The 25-year-old will take on 7x Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Anissa Meksen in a mixed-rules bout at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video.

Stamp vs. Meksen is the second such match of this nature, following a highly-entertaining bout between Demetrious Johnson and Rodtang in 2022. The atomweight edition will follow a similar structure, with the ruleset alternating between MMA and Muay Thai between rounds.

The success of Johnson vs. Rodtang has started a ripple effect that will likely lead to many mixed-rules bouts in the future. ONE Women's Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee and BJJ phenom Danielle Kelly have shown interest in a mixed-rules bout.

At the same time, several other fighters want to participate against champions from other martial arts disciplines. Only time will tell how many ONE Championship mixed-rules bouts will materialize in 2023.
