Conor McGregor recently tweeted that he will begin training camp in Big Bear, presumably to prepare for his highly anticipated return to action later this year.

The Irishman has been first coaching opposite Michael Chandler on the next installment of The Ultimate Fighter before the two men clash in the octagon later this year.

Interestingly, McGregor's choice of location for his next training camp appears to be the famous Big Bear Lake in Southern California. Situated in San Bernardino County, the city boasts a height just shy of seven thousand feet above sea level, which makes it perfect for athletes looking to get some high-altitude training done.

Altitudes of around 8,000 feet can cause a drop in the amount of oxygen your body receives by 25%. To compensate for that, the body creates more red blood cells, which helps deliver more of the precious oxygen your body needs to survive.

As a result of the increased number of red blood cells carrying oxygen to your tissues, there is a bump in endurance with a decrease in the amount of recovery time required after workouts.

Besides Conor McGregor, some of combat sport's most famous personalities have chosen Big Bear as their preferred training ground in the past. Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya, and Gennady Golovkin are some who've called the city home before their fights.

Conor McGregor insists he is "too slick" for Michael Chandler

Conor McGregor will soon make his highly anticipated return to the octagon this year against Michael Chandler. While the Irish superstar spent over a year on the sidelines due to suffering a nasty fracture against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, McGregor is showing no signs of having lost any of his famous confidence.

Despite winning just one of his last four fights, 'The Notorious' remains the biggest superstar in the world of MMA and one of the most popular figures in the UFC today.

While the former two-division champion will soon face an opponent who's known for his explosive striking skillset, Conor McGregor isn't too worried.

Speaking to Robbie Fox on My Mom's Basement, Conor McGregor weighed in on his upcoming bout against 'Iron' and said:

"For Chandler, I'm just too slick for him. I'm too skilled for him and he's not fought someone like me. I've fought someone like him though... It's the mixed martial arts style. The short wrestler, it's just kind of MMA, isn't it? It ain't nothing peculiar or unsure of. I've fought against that style many, many years."
