David Shaw's current duties in the promotions include overseeing UFC's parent organization Zuffa's global operations in various metropolises around the world.

He commands a team of more than 50 international employees aimed at maximizing the promotion's revenue streams from content partnerships from pay-per-view, digital, and TV rights. Shaw has been with the American promotion for well over a decade at this point.

It is safe to say that he had a great time performing the usual duties of announcing stats and fight bonuses for UFC 284 during the post-fight presser since the event broke some notable records.

What record did UFC 284 break?

During the UFC 284 post-fight press conference, David Shaw revealed that the live gate for the event has officially broken the Australian arena record for the highest-grossing event.

This means that the pay-per-view's live gate is now the highest grosser among any arena event in the oceanic nation, including concerts, exhibitions, sporting events, etc.

The sold-out RAC Arena in Perth saw 14,124 fans in Attendance. As per Shaw, the live gate raked in a total of almost AUD 6 million ($ 4.2 million).

The event saw reigning lightweight champion Islam Makhachev retain his championship by securing a unanimous decision win against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.

With the high-profile win, the Dagestani is expected to take over the No.1 spot in the pound-for-pound rankings.

The Russian holds a pro-MMA record of 24-1 and with the win against Volkanovski, he has extended his win streak to 12.
