Nong-O Gaiyanghadao Gunning for His First ONE Super Series World Title
On 16 February, Muay Thai legend Nong-O Gaiyanghadao plans to be the first ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion when he takes on Han Zi Hao of China at ONE: CLASH OF LEGENDS in front of his compatriots in Bangkok, Thailand.
“I am very excited to be competing for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title,” Nong-O said.
“I am thankful that ONE Championship has given me this opportunity, and getting the chance to do it in front of my Thai fans is amazing.”
Nong-O discovered Muay Thai at the age of nine when he saw his neighbor training and was invited to train with him.
At the age of 14, he moved to Bangkok to pursue his career and became a legend in the process. He ended up becoming a five-division multiple-time World Champion, won the Lumpinee Muay Thai World Title four times, Rajadamnern Muay Thai World Champion, a Thailand National Champion twice, and a two-time Fighter of the Year.
That’s when ONE Championship came knocking on his door and invited him to be one of the first athletes to join their new all-striking league, ONE Super Series.
Nong-O is known for his speed, powerful, and accurate strikes. And he made those attributes evident his debut with ONE Championship as he first dominated Fabia Pinca, and then Mehdi Zatout months later showcasing an impressive array of skills.
“ONE Championship is a global event, so I am proud to represent Thailand and show the world the beautiful art of Muay Thai,” said Nong-O.
Though the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title is within Nong-O’s reach, he needs to overcome a worthy adversary in Top King Muay Thai World Champion, Han Zi Hao.
“I am going to bring my all, and I expect Han Zi Hao to do the same, so it will be a very entertaining bout for the fans for sure,” Nong-O concluded.
Given that it is for the inaugural ONE World Title, we can only expect that Nong-O will be entering the ONE ring with all his experience intact and is looking to have his hands raised in victory at the end of the night.
