That said, here is today’s ONE Championship News Roundup.

#3 Tommy Langaker fires warning shots at champ Kade Ruotolo

Tommy Langaker hasn’t been shy in his call-outs of ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo.

Following his win over Uali Kurzhev at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, the Norwegian grappler renewed his challenge to Ruotolo for a piece of ONE Championship gold.

Langaker, in an interview with South China Morning Post, once again made a cheeky reference to Ruotolo’s hair and the iconic cartoon The Simpsons.

“Just get ready, you know, I’m gonna turn you into Sideshow Bob after I’m done with you, so let’s go.”

Langaker, who’s now 2-0 in ONE Championship, secured a heel hook submission finish over Kurzhev barely three minutes into the contest.

#2 Danielle Kelly explains why a rematch with Jessa Khan is important to her

Danielle Kelly is on a trailblazing path in ONE Championship remaining undefeated in all three of her fights in the promotion.

The American grappling sensation is fresh off a unanimous decision win over Japanese judoka Ayaka Miura at ONE Fight Night 7. Kelly’s submission grappling match against Miura, a former ONE women’s strawweight world title contender, was considered her toughest in the promotion yet.

Nevertheless, Kelly is setting her sights on a future opponent.

During her post-fight interview, Kelly said that she wants to face Jessa Khan, who beat her by a decision in February 2021.

“I had a history with her about two years ago, and I felt like I wasn't really a hundred per cent, and I felt like I could compete with other jiu-jitsu people. It's what I'm used to. It's more flowy, and we're the same weight. I'm motivated to get back because I've been working hard to get that match and work harder on myself.

Khan, an IBJJF Pan-American Champion, is now signed with ONE Championship.

#1 John Lineker was surprised with Fabricio Andrade’s chin

John Lineker is used to opponents losing their consciousness whenever he hits them. Fabricio Andrade, however, is no ordinary fighter.

The two Brazilian knockout machines battered each other for 20 minutes in the main event of ONE Fight Night 7, but it was Andrade who got the victory (corner stoppage) and the vacant ONE bantamweight world title.

Lineker, who has secured three of his four victories in the Circle via knockout, admitted in an interview with ONE Championship that he was surprised that Andrade kept charging at him despite the punishment he dealt.

He said:

“I almost knocked him out a couple of times, but he took the blows pretty well. And the times I managed to put him down, he managed to get up. But that strategy was just to confuse him and make him more worried about takedowns so I could work more on my boxing.”

Ultimately, it was Andrade’s constant and accurate striking that prevailed. Lineker was deemed unfit to continue that his corner decided to call for a stop to the contest between the fourth and fifth rounds.
