Just one word can describe what transpired at UFC 193. Unbelievable! Holly Holm shocked the world as she knocked out Ronda Rousey, 59 seconds into the second round with her trademark head kick and followed it with some swift punches to become the new UFC women’s Bantamweight Champion of the world.
The fight fans around the world expected another Rousey showcase, but what they witnessed was a legendary performance from Holly Holm, who proved why she was billed as Rousey’s toughest challenge till date.
Since the onset of the bell, Ronda didn’t look the beast that she is accustomed to be as she refrained from putting on the pressure on Holly. Holly landed some great punches that rocked Ronda at a couple of occasions and even got a takedown on the former UFC Bantamweight Champion.
This was the signal that a huge upset was coming our way and so it did with some style. Holly Holm becomes the first athlete in the world, men or women, to hold a boxing Championship first and also go on to win a UFC title. Truly legendary to say the least! Before the bout, people questioned UFC’s decision to hand Holly a shot at the title so soon, but she shut her detractors up in the best way possible.
